Hop in the Jeep and ride shotgun with Paul (not Rudd) down Rodeo via LaBrea to bypass Highland through the canyon on the way to South Santa Monica (all within 20 mins of the other in any direction) and listen to him yap to someone on his cell about "Clueless," (dir. Amy Heckerling 1995). The movie that made Dan Hedaya make stars out of Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd had a 30th Anniversary (NOT STEELBOOK), that Paul (still not Rudd) just like totally HAD to goss with you about ASAP.

And did you think I was never gonna end up bringing the 4K Ultra HD
Whatcha Got?! (Clueless 4K UHD)
SPEAKER_00of Clueless to the review review shelf help? As if. Yes, I did. Quite exciting for me, I'd say. Uh, couple quick things about Clueless that I would like to tell you. It is a Paramount Pictures release.
What's It About?
SPEAKER_00It's from 1995. It is 97 minutes long, and it is rated PG-13. It stars Alicia Silverstone very early on in her career. Paul Rudd, the great Dan Hedea. Are you kidding? Stacey Dash? Wallace Sean. A bunch of fantastic character actors, faces that then move on to do the clueless TV show and all these things that spawned from this movie. Let's talk a little bit about this movie. It is about a young lady, a teenager, that is very, very popular, that is very concerned about materialistic things and dating and looking good according to the backjacket. She believes in doing stuff for other people's, but when it comes to matters of the heart, especially her own, she is clueless. It is directed by, as I mentioned, Amy Heckerling, who did Fast Times at Ridgemont High. And if I didn't mention it, I'm glad I mentioned it now. It's necessary. And uh we'll also mention that the director of photography on this film is Bill Pope, who also was the director of photography on the Matrix trilogy and Team America World Police. Very, very well photographed movie, in my opinion. Now, why
Sell It To Me
SPEAKER_00did I bring this movie? I've always liked this movie. This movie's always made me laugh. Dan Hedea has always made me laugh. The guy who plays her dad has always I've since I don't know, Commando, probably before that, cheers. Dan Hadea to me has always been a legend. He was also in Night at the Roxbury, he was the dad in that as well. Another great paramount comedy. I had this on DVD at a point in life, and at a point I did have to get the 4K. I will say I wish I had the Steelbook 4K. Now, what is the Steelbook 4K exactly? Well, Steelbook is rather than plastic, makes a different sound. Isn't that nice though? I like to do that on this version of the program. It's a nice little bonus that you get there. That makes you feel good, doesn't it? It's like a little dopamine hit. It's nice. It's not quite like a VHS clamshell. But it's close. Steelbook doesn't sound like that. But Steelbook is more fancy and durable in terms of the packaging. Now, if it does get scratched, which that happens, it can damage the cover art, which is normally a little more fancy pantsy or elevated, however you want to look at it, how whatever you want to call it. Maybe some people would say stupider. So go back to the code. I don't know, it's all subjective. Same movie inside, different, fancier case by all basic definitions. You know, fancier. This version that I have, which should have essentially the same features as the aforementioned Steelbook, it has a little trivia game on it that's pretty fun. It has some lookbacks at some of the cast and some discussions with Amy Heckerling, and I I want to say it has like shares, like virtual clothes try-on thing or whatever, to whatever degree, and cast and crew stories, uh a tutorial of the suck and blow. It's it's got some good stuff on it, it's not super in-depth. You do get the 4K disc as well as a Blu-ray disc, as well as a digital download with this one, and I believe you get the same thing with the Steelbook. You can check me on that. Don't hesitate to text us if I'm wrong. And I have had a chance to watch this recently. I haven't delved into all of the fun things inside of it. The main thing that, you know, is the big bonus, I guess, in the edition that I got outside of the fun, glittery slip cover that's on it, is that it does come with a digital download. And I absolutely take advantage of Fandango at home and movies anywhere and prime in terms of being able to access movies digitally. If they're gonna give that to me, I'm gonna do that. We did try to give those out to people that were guesting for a while, and it just came off a little bit too much. Like, you want some of these cheeseburgers, man? And we had to stop doing that. And by we, I mean me. And by me, I mean Ben. It's he writes those sheets and he tries to give out things like, oh, you'd have to be there. I don't think I'm really gonna cut that out. I have watched this movie recently, though, and the digital presentation is really, really nice. One of the things about Clueless that has always stuck out to me is it is one of those really vibrantly lit, delicately lit, nice shadows and things of that nature as well. Lit in Cher's world. And also in moments where Cher's world is not going so great. Again, we're always in Cher's world, and that's a really nice thing about the photography of this movie. As well as the writing, my goodness gracious, this is one of the truly, truly beautifully written movies. It has some great fashion, great lines, great words, things that existed in the zeitgeist for six, seven years after this, easily, no cap. And this again, it spawned a TV show. This is a pretty iconic thing. And me being an actor, Ben also being an actor, I can't speak for Ben or Burris or Moses or various folks who are participating in this version of the review review for your shelf help. It's just like it's hard not to point out great performances. And the Elisia Silverstone performance in this is especially, especially really, really great. And I have no idea why it's taken me so long to say this. The soundtrack of this movie is a banger. It is a banger. Okay? Banger. The movie.

SPEAKER_00Just sitting here thinking about it and talking about it, it's like self-talk, self-help. Tony Robbins. Somebody's gotta kill the babysitter. I I feel like I want to move to a four and a half. I I've said this movie's a four forever, but I think it has a lot more cultural weight than the four, and maybe on me. The limit does not exist. In terms of the limit does not exist! Man, this movie is aged like fine wine. It's crazy how well written and well acted this movie is, and the themes. The themes of love and caring and giving and kindness, and being altruist, which is a great theme that follows through in this movie. So I'm gonna give it a four and a half. I am going to give the overall disc package, all that stuff, a four, which is a very high score. Gotta love getting that digital. Gotta love that it has some in-depth stuff. I'm gonna take away a little bit because uh there's not necessarily in-depth commentaries here in terms of the movie. There's no inserts or anything like that. And the steel book is actually so cool. Boy, in terms of on the shelf. Oh boy, my first adjustment down. So I had an adjustment up and an adjustment down. It's a four and a half movie, it's a three and a half moving. There's no package. I like it. I don't love it. In terms of the movie, I'll want some more of it. But that steelbook, I feel like, would age like the movie, like a fine wine. It's got Cher's Tartan from her skirt. Blazer. I want to say it's a blazer ensemble. It has that. Thank you so much for joining me for this episode of the Review Review Shelf Help about Clueless, the 4K Ultra HD release. This episode is
